Choosing a Frame for Your Face Shape
The glasses you choose should flatter the general shape of your face, and your face shape will usually fit into one of four basic shapes: round, square, triangular, and oval. Read on to find the eyeglass frames which flatter your face shape.
Round Face Shape
A round face has a curved outline and the height and width of your face are approximately equal. Angular, narrow frames will lengthen the appearance of a round face and your face will appear thinner. Also good: rectangular frames.
Square Face Shape
A square face also has equal height and width, but is coupled with a strong jaw line and broad forehead. Look for frames that will soften the facial angles and are wider than they are longer. Also good: oval shaped lenses.
Triangular Face Shape
A triangle-shaped face is wider at the top, but narrows towards the chin. Look for frames that are wider at the bottom than at the top. Lighter frames and rimless designs go very well with heart shaped faces.
Oval Face Shape
An oval face is longer than it is wide. An oval face can usually look good in any frame, but avoid oversize frames. Look for fun and exciting temples to add extra width to the face as well.
Choosing a Frame for Your Complexion
In general, the color of your frames should match the tone of your skin: warm or cool. If your skin coloring has a yellowish tone to it, your skin tone is warm; if your skin coloring has a pinkish or blue undertone, your skin tone is cool.
Cool complexions look best in black, red-brown, dark tortoise, pink, blue, etc. Warm complexions look best in gold, khaki, tan, camel, orange, red, etc.
